Report on The State of Civic Space in Latin America

March 21, 2025- The EU-LAT Network presents its latest report on The State of Civic Space in Latin America, which examines the challenges faced by civil society and human rights defenders in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Peru, and Ecuador.
The report analyses key trends, including restrictions on fundamental freedoms and increasing risks for human rights defenders. It also provides recommendations for EU institutions to enhance their support for civic space in the region.

The EU-LAT Network is a pluralistic network of European movements and organizations that promote solidarity between the people of Latin America and Europe. The network was founded on October 11, 2017, to strengthen its advocacy actions to promote participatory European policies, with a gender perspective, that contribute to the comprehensive respect for human rights, democratization, and sustainable development in Latin America.
The EU-LAT Network comprises 40 organizations from 12 European countries and individual members, including the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT).
