Two New Joint NGO Submissions in the Framework of the 2020 review of the UN Treaty Body system

OMCT is part of two submissions made pursuant to a questionnaire issued by Morocco and Switzerland, the two co-facilitators of the process of the consideration of the state of the UN human rights treaty body system (Treaty Body Review 2020).

OMCT as a member of TB-Net, an NGO platform composed of CCPR-Centre, Child Rights Connect, GI-ESCR, IDA, IMADR, IWRAW-AP and OMCT, submitted together with ISHR a Joint Civil Society Submission highlighting the main elements and ideas of the Civil Society Proposal “Towards a Strengthened UN Treaty body System ” regarding enhanced predictability and coordination throughout the system. This proposal was the fruit of an NGO consultation in July 20219 and was subsequently adopted and endorsed by 86 organisations.

OMCT also joined the NGO Submission with 27 other NGOs responding to the 18 questions proposed by Morocco and Switzerland

The Co-Facilitators will hold online consultations of the review process with States on 27 July 2020. Another consultation with States will take place in Geneva on 28 August 2020. Also, in Geneva on 28 August, dialogues with other stakeholders, including civil society, will take place. The format will be a hybrid meeting and stakeholders can participate remotely.
