Internship announcement: OMCT SOS-Torture Network Programme

INTERNSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT SOS-TORTURE NETWORK PROGRAMME
The World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT), the largest internationalcoalition of non-governmental organisations fighting against torture, summaryexecutions, forced disappearances and all other forms of cruel, inhuman anddegrading treatment, is currently seeking to recruit an INTERN for ourNetwork Programme.

Location: InternationalSecretariat of the OMCT, Geneva, Switzerland

Duration: Theposition should be filled as soon as possible, for a minimum of 3 months. Application deadline: 4 February 2018

Please note that unfortunately internships atthe OMCT are not remunerated.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The intern will work under the supervision of the Network Coordinatorand his/her activities will include: Assist with theimplementation of the SOS-Torture Network Programme’s activities including the organisationof field missions, trainings, events, campaigns as well as with research and the preparationof materials for advocacy purposes;

Attend meetings andsessions of the United Nations human rights mechanisms including the HumanRights Council and the Committee against Torture and support the Network’sengagement with such mechanisms;

Assist with the draftingand editing of press releases, reports and other relevant documents;

Assist developing and maintainingrelationship with Network members to ensure that the Network can maximise itsrange of action and impact;

Contribute to thedevelopment and maintenance of the Network’s database.

REQUIREMENTS:

University degree in law, humanrights, international relations, social sciences or related field;

Good knowledge of the UNprocedures and regional mechanisms for the protection of human rights;

Excellent drafting andediting skills;

Excellent organizationaland communication skills;

Ability to work underpressure to deadlines and to adapt to multidisciplinary work in the environmentof a multicultural team;

Good interpersonal andcommunication skills;

Fluency in oral and written English and French. Knowledge of Spanish is an asset.
